It isn't necessary to paint a Chinese restaurant in Red and/or Gold color. It's very important to use the right color(s) to light up and balance lighting every room in the restaurant. and then use some Chinese decoration things to decorate it.
For Chinese decoration, you can simply purchase some Chinese painting, (kinds of painting: such as chinese characters, mountain view, animals..etc.), plants, furnitures, and so on..
Recommendation on a Chinese resturant: Looks clean and serve excellent Chinese food.

you can paint it any way you like but, I would look in Chinese paintings as a reference, also in Chinese traditions but, no matter what color you choose I would eat in any clean restaurant with a good service and good food.

hmmm. red is so typical, but it looks great with black and gold accessories and decorations.
i would say go for something different, but there is kind of a standard that comes with walking into a chinese restaurant. which is seeing red and gold.
i went into a thai restaraunt once, and they had painted the ceiling a dark red. and the walls almost a really dark dark purple...it almost looked black. but it looked really nice.
i love interior decorating. if i had a photo to go off of i could tell you for sure. but i don't. i hope this helped...
